If my dad is gone for visitation do i have to go spend it with my stepmom in texas?

we have joint custody but he drives a truck and is gone most of the time during visitation in the state of texas during school they go 1 time a week and every other weekend. his new wife comes and picks up my daughter and spends the time with her and her dad is gone trucking.my family and i dont think its fair he is supposed to spend time with her dad not have to spend time with the other parent all the time. she does not like to go to her dads unless he is there and he usually is not. im all for her spending time with stepmom if he is home. i just want to know if she has to go if he is not home, because i guarentee if he had custody and i was trucking and not home for visitation she would not spend time with my husband.
