McCanns: in Britain 2007 - has Madeleine McCann become 'more popular than Jesus' ?

On 4th March 1966 John Lennon proclaimed that the Beatles were 'more popular than Jesus'. Few in the UK took notice but in the US their were scenes similar to the Nazi's with m record burnings. In Britain 2007, where the story of a condemed Teddy Bear became 'more popular than Mohammed', we have been bombarded by the image of a lost child Madeleine McCann in every news paper, on every TV channel. Regardless of our views of the parents, or our religion if any, has Madeleine become 'more popular than Jesus' this year in the UK ?
