I cleaned my Canon 450D image sensor and now the red AF Points will barely light.?

Some don't work at all. I took several pictures after cleaning it, and don't seem to see any problems with the photos. I'm really used to the red lights showing the focal points. Is this a serious problem or will I need to send the camera in for a new sensor?
